Two boats carrying about 300 migrants have sank in the 'worst Mediterranean tragedy' so far this year. Survivors were rescued by fishing boats and sent to detention camps in Libya.
UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi called on European nations to resume rescue missions. Grandi added that safe ways of passage out of North Africa were needed "before it is too late for many more desperate people."
