Fact of the Day

Today, the US has the highest incarceration rate of any country in the world, with 2.2 million behind bars, even though crime has decreased significantly since the early 1990s.

 And while black Americans make up only 13 percent of the US population, they make up 37 percent of the incarcerated population. 

Forty percent of police killings of unarmed people are black men, who make up merely 6 percent of the population
