Clinton's Conspiracy Theory

Hillary Clinton has said Russia, which interfered in the US election she lost in 2016, is “grooming” congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard for a third-party run next year. The goal of this would essentially be to divide the US electorate and help Donald Trump win re-election, Clinton said.

Clinton also said she thought Jill Stein, the Green Party’s 2016 presidential nominee, was a Russian asset: “Yeah, she’s a Russian asset – I mean, totally. They know they can’t win without a third-party candidate. So I don’t know who it’s going to be, but I will guarantee you they will have a vigorous third-party challenge in the key states that they most needed.”

In 2016, Stein won more votes than Trump’s margin of victory in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, three states that would have secured the presidency for Clinton had she won them.

Gabbard later responded

Great! Thank you @HillaryClinton. You, the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long, have finally come out from behind the curtain. From the day I announced my candidacy, there has been a concerted campaign to destroy my reputation. We wondered who was behind it and why. Now we know — it was always you, through your proxies and powerful allies in the corporate media and war machine, afraid of the threat I pose. It’s now clear that this primary is between you and me. Don’t cowardly hide behind your proxies. Join the race directly.”

The World Socialist Party of the United States, of course, does not support or endorse either Gabbard or Stein but we can agree on Tulsi Gabbard's accurate assessment of Clinton.

Jill Stein has tweeted

"In light of the latest slanderous allegations from
@HillaryClinton, I challenge her to a debate. It's past time to give the American people the real debate they deserved in 2016, but were denied by the phony DNC/RNC-controlled Commission on Presidential Debates. It's a shame HRC is peddling conspiracy theories to justify her failure instead of reflecting on real reasons Dems lost in 2016."
