The charity Age UK found in a survey that one in two pensioners, hit with fuel poverty, is not warm enough because he is trying to make savings. In other words, Half of British pensioners have been forced to give up their homes' warmth to save money. The charity also found that some two million elderly people are so poor that they go to bed earlier at nights in an attempt to get warm without higher energy bills.
Mervyn Kohler from Age UK said "People who are cutting back on the amount of fuel they are using are jeopardizing their health. They are going to end up exacerbating respiratory illnesses; they are going to end up isolating themselves in their own homes, feeling miserable sitting in a cold house”
