THEY’RE FINDING IT HARD AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE! (weekly poem)

THEY’RE FINDING IT HARD AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE!
(Apologies to A.A. Milne)

Buckingham Palace is to have a £360m restoration.

We must restore Buck House before,
It falls into The Mall;
As we know for the homeless it,
Will boost their low morale!

For as they snuggle up each night,
In shop doors in The Strand;
Their sleep is undisturbed by thoughts,
There’s somewhere far less grand!

The Queen could be without a door,
As she sits on the Throne;
Inside the Buck House smallest room,
When she is on her own!

Prince Philip states that he’ll inspect,
Each gutter, pipe and drain;
In case a leak exacerbates,
The water on his brain.

Prince Charles will supervise repairs,
And keep a careful log;
In case some things go walkabouts,
Like his gold-plated bog!

Whilst by hot-vents on factory roofs,
The homeless settle down;
To one more night upon the tiles,
Just like the British Crown!
