Bombing for peace is like f*cking for virginity

There is always “a case” for “war”. Which basically translates to there is always deceit and propaganda to mask murder for strategic self-interest. The lies used to justify illegal state murder of human beings in foreign lands always sounds noble. The rationale this time sounds so reasonable. It always sounds so necessary; so justified; so urgent. But the reality of the despair and death they bring are anything but noble. They are monstrous and barbaric.

Let us ponder that logic once more. Western powers — who are already steeped in historical and contemporary blood-letting of monstrous magnitude — are once again trying to justify their latest illegal imperial venture in noble terms: of military necessity and moral superiority. And that we — who have no right to interfere in another country — will bring less murder and destruction through engaging in more murder and destruction. Even though a year of such apparent bombing in Iraq and Syria has not only not brought peace, it has made the situation worse, and had no impact on ISIS. In fact they now have more weapons, more money and more territory.

Perhaps the goal is not to attack ISIS but is to illegally remove Assad. That in fact ‘we’ have facilitated directly and indirectly — through arming, training, funding, buying oil from, giving political support to — the very head-chopping takfiri fanatics we proclaim to be against, because it is strategically expedient. Indeed we support the very Salafist fundamentalists we are supposedly in a civilisational war against!

The bad language in title is unnecessary, says more about the writer than article.

According to a Ministry of Defence report to Parliament in 2010, each Tornado flight costs £35,000 per hour. Typically, two Tornados fly each mission, lasting anywhere between four and eight hours. So let's land somewhere in the middle: a six-hour mission costs a basic £210,000. And the Tornados need to refuel en route. Although operating costs for the Voyager aircraft aren't available

Then we have to consider the cost of the missiles. The expected payload would be four Paveway bombs, £22,000 each, and two Brimstone missiles, £105,000 per unit.

So let's say that's £508,000 per aircraft in total, just over £1m per mission. If they carry Storm Shadows at £800,000 a pop, then the cost rises considerably.

Does the asterisk, i have now added, help any in reducing any offence?

But the real obscenity is not the language of the blog but war itself and also to be more specific those bast*rds who voted to drop bombs and hide behind their hypocritical double-standards.

I agree with anon Scotland. The analogy is crass. It distracts one from the argument which i agree with.

Comparing it with other statements doesn't negate its impact on the reader.
