Mother Theresa died on this day in 1997. She believed that suffering brought people closer to Jesus, praised the Duvalier family and received support from them. Praised and pilloried,
perhaps the most apposite observation comes from the Mikhail Bakunin:
"The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth."
