THE RIGHT TO WORK IN OUR FREE SOCIETY
'The Right to Work' – where is this 'right',
Enshrined in any law?
No profit for the boss – no job,
You're shown right out the door!
It's wishful thinking on your part,
And Brother that's a fact;
And Sister, there just never was,
A Parliamentary Act.
So you can march on Downing Street,
And make an awful fuss;
And rattle-on how proud you are,
To all be 'wurkin-cluss'!
You then can holler and demand,
Your non-existent right;
And wave your banners all you want,
And fight your phoney fight.
Then loudly sing 'Jerusalem',
To all the bosses hoots;
Pull down your flat caps and all boast,
About your 'wurkin-roots'.
The law on jobs is all about,
The Guv'nor's pounds and pence;
Thus he can say to you, ‘Go hang’,
A 'Capital' offence'!
