Google is marking Simone de Beauvoir's birthday today.
In her book The Second Sex published in 1949 Ms De Beauvoir downplayed her association with feminism as she then knew it. Like many of her associates, she believed that Socialist development and class struggle were needed to solve society's problems - not a women's movement. When 1960's feminists approached her she did not rush to join their cause.

And she was absolutely right. Feminism has been used as a deeply divisive tool by the elites and has helped to hijack Socialist issues and organisations, because of mainstream feminism's distinctly middle class, white bias. It is also a fact that feminism, via Political Correctness, has helped to sour socialism in the minds of the masses, who are sick and tired of PC, and with good reason. Ordinary men and women are not enemies, despite the best efforts of middle class feminists who whine about barriers and who expect poorer women to look after their kids. This is in no way Socialism.
True socialism is not primarily about feminism, gay rights etc, it is about CLASS ISSUES. And, almost by definition, help society's most downtrodden and you'd automatically help plenty of women.
