Made in Hong Kong

Hong Kong’s 40 wealthiest residents are all U.S. dollar billionaires according to the latest Hong Kong Rich List by Forbes Asia. Their collective wealth came in at US$167 billion for the year 2010 which is good for an increase of US$28 billion over last year’s total. Hong Kong’s 40 richest people are worth a combined US$26 billion more than the combined 40 wealthiest mainland Chinese, who together came in at a total of US$137 billion.

Top of Hong Kong’s rich list is 82-year-old Li Ka-shing, whose wealth is measured at an estimated US$24 billion.
Second is the Kwok family with an estimated fortune of US$20 billion, up US$3 billion from last year.
Lee Shau Kee, at number three, with an estimated net worth of US$19.5 billion.

It seems the most common way for Hong Kong tycoons to make most of their money is through real estate.
