Remembering the Victims - Always

One more we have witnessed another act of terror in the USA. Eleven members of a Pittsburgh synagogue were slaughtered in an anti-semitic attack by a white nationalist who also called for similar actions against immigrants.

This atrocity follows the recent racist killing of two African-Americans at a supermarket in Kentucky by a man who had failed to gain entry to a predominantly black church.

It also follows on from the attempted murder of a number of politicians and personalities by a series of parcel-bombs sent by a pro-Trump supporter.

It would seem that the Pittsburgh massacre appears to be part of a pattern of right-wingers emboldened by an atmosphere of increased race-hatred.

The Socialist Party is opposed to all prejudice and discrimination against our fellow-workers. So, it goes without saying that we have always opposed anti-Semitism and racism.  The Socialist Party has always denounced anti-Semitic and racist stereotypes which demonise and dehumanise our fellow-workers. We have refuted the myth about any world Jewish conspiracy, described these days as globalism, and often represented by the figure of George Soros.

The Socialist Party can empathise with the feeling of revulsion which will follow the acts of mass murder in Pittsburgh. As always, the victims of the shootings were innocent and without any influence over the agenda that motivated the murderer and were simply people going about their act of worship.

It would be unfeeling not to be saddened and outraged or to have no sympathy but more shameful are those who will shed crocodile-tears while expressing their condolences with the usual platitudes while disguising their own double-standards of condoning acts of political violence.
