Rooney - golden balls

Wayne Rooney , from backstreet footballer to multi-millionaire.

According to the Sunday Times Rich List, published earlier this year, he stands at number four on the list of rich young sports persons aged 30 and under, and was valued at a total of £33m.

Manchester United pays Rooney £100,000 a week.

Besides the £5.2m he earns through his games, he earns £7.3m from his image rights. He also endorses the big brands of Nike, Coca Cola, EA Sports and others, which brings in a £1.83m. Even his wedding was something he was able to cash in on. Hello! magazine paid him £1.5m for the photo rights of the marriage to the then Coleen McLoughlin.

He has also secured the largest sports book deal in the history of publishing, signed with Harper Collins. With a minimum of five books to be published over a period of 12 years, he was paid £5m in advance by the company and receives an annual fee of £750,000 from the publisher.

Despite the ability to live off of her husband's success, Coleen Rooney has amassed her own fortune of approximately £8m.

She secured a series of lucrative deals, including a modelling career which has seen her front a campaign for Asda - a two year, £3m deal - and made her the face of the LG Chocolate Slider phone in 2006.

It has actually been her career as a writer which really boosts her bank balance, having written a series of children's books as well as her autobiography in 2007. Reports suggest she earned £50,000 for her first two books.

She also receives more than £41,000 each month for her OK! column as well as £5,000 a month for writing for Closer.

An ad campaign for Littlewoods, starring Coleen, was also launched in September 2010, just as the Wayne Rooney hooker allegations emerged. Reports suggest Coleen was paid £2m for appearing in the TV adverts.

On top of her earnings for writing and modelling, her income is supplemented by two fragrances on the market, Coleen X McLoughlin and Coleen McLoughlin Summer, as well as a 24-piece jewellery range for Argos which is estimated to have netted her £500,000.

Their combined wealth leaves the Rooney's living in a £3.5m mansion with gold plated toilet seats

It is those figures that are the real scandal, not the sex antics of Wayne!!
