Socialist Stanza No.9
Royal Appearances
Coronations
and jubilees,
Fabulous
occasions
Marking
Britain’s pre-eminence
Amongst the
slew of nations.
Or, such is
the presentation,
A vision
taken as true
By those
looking through spectacles
That’re
tinted red, white and blue.
But the
bunting is soon faded,
The bank
holiday has passed,
And people
are trudging along
To work,
where the crowds had massed.
A monarch
looks down from the throne
Upon all
those the pomp fools,
Whilst
beyond the orb and sceptre,
It’s capital
that really rules.
