A PR Stunt?

A supposed hijack of an oil tanker some months ago generated international headlines and  members of the elite Navy force, the Special Boat Service, were hailed as heroes.

The defence minister, Ben Wallace, said at the time: “People are safe tonight thanks to their efforts.”

The Crown Prosecution Service findings differ. No charges were brought against the stowaways who have claimed asylum. No evidence could be produced to show that the ship or the crew were at risk.

“At first they said we were sea pirates but there was no evidence of that,” explained 'John' . “They said we tried to hijack a ship. Such an incident didn’t happen. I’m happy we had a good crown prosecutor who went through the case properly.”
