Bangladesh Inequality

Bangladesh has topped the list of countries that saw the quickest growth in the number of ultra-wealthy people between 2012 and 2017.  Such growth is an indication of severe inequality and discriminatory distribution of income and wealth.

According to Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics BBS, Gini Coefficient (measures income inequality within a country's population) in Bangladesh was reported at 0.483 in 2016, which was an increase from 0.458 in 2010. The influence of inequality of income, for a developing nation consisting 166.70 million population should take this alarming situation or extreme margin of wealth distribution as a concern.

The world ultra-wealth report 2018 shows that the number of ultra-high net-worth UHNW individuals in Bangladesh rose by 17.3 per cent
