CAMERON’S CLOSED SHOP (poem)

CAMERON’S CLOSED SHOP

9/7/2014: The Prime Minister threatens to impose
thresholds for union strike ballots-despite his own
cabinet & party being elected on a minority vote.

Dave Cameron the ‘Bully’ boy, (1)
Has really got the ike;
Those uppity plebs once again,
Have all gone out on strike. (2)
And he complains the votes were cast,
By a minority;
Unlike his party put in by,
A huge majority! (3)

You’ll never find a government,
Who says a strike is right;
They’re always at the wrong time or,
Misuse of union might.
Dave sobs for the poor public and,
Their inconvenience;
But he is merely playing to,
The usual audience.

Wage rises are the sort of thing,
We never can afford;
Unless one is a C.E.O.,
Or Chairman of the Board.
The present system’s rapidly,
Becoming a ‘Closed Shop’;
Not for the union members but,
For Dave’s chums at the top.

(1) Bullingdon Boy.

(2) Public Sector Strike July 2014.

(3) The Tories received 36.1% of the vote
of the 65.1% of the electorate who voted-
less than a quarter of the total electorate.
