US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta told troops in Afghanistan on Wednesday that the massacre of 16 Afghan civilians by an American soldier must not deter them from their mission to secure the country.
200 US Marines who had been waiting to hear Panetta's speech were told by their commander to get up, leave their weapons, including M16 and M-4 automatic rifles and 9 mm pistols, outside and return unarmed.
The US military can't be trusted in the presence of their own secretary of defense.
