People with low incomes are more likely to suffer mental illness, a new study suggests. It also found that a decrease in income is associated with increased risk of anxiety, substance abuse and mood disorders. Without being definitive , the study suggests social problems, such as decreased or low income, may give rise to some cases of mood disorders like depression.
When is medication effective for disorders caused by social problems? What is the point of attempting to treat symptoms rather than the cause?
