‘Re-reading Engels’ (Public Meeting, Manchester 15/6)

Saturday, June 15,
2:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Friends Meeting House,
6 Mount Street,
Manchester M2 5NS

An imaginary interview with Engels placing his Conditions of the Working Class in England into a modern context by Susan Rosenthal which is well worth a read.

"...The English capitalist class is charitable out of self interest; it gives nothing outright, but regards its gifts as a business matter, makes a bargain with the poor...As though they rendered the workers a service in first sucking out their very life-blood and then placing themselves before the world as mighty benefactors of humanity when they give back to the plundered victims the hundredth part of what belongs to them!..."
