World Poverty

The World Bank's annual report on global poverty concludes the threshold for measuring that — those who make less than $1.90 a day — is inadequate.

The report introduces new thresholds: $3.20 for lower-income countries and $5.50 for countries considered middle income.

The World Bank also says factors other than wages, like access to education and health care, should be taken into account.

Almost half the world's population -- 3.4 billion people -- live on less than $5.50 a day.

About a quarter of the planet's people, or around 1.9 billion, make do on less than $3.20 a day.

10 percent scrape by on less than $1.90 a day
