Hate Crimes

A gang attacked a teenaged asylum seeker, an Iranian Kurd, in Croydon on Friday. They then chased him down the road before repeatedly kicking him as he lay on the ground. The 17 year-old boy sustained a fractured skull and a blood clot on his brain. The police said he was the victim of "a frenzied attack by a large number of people".

Should we be surprised that the ignorant who have been fed on a diet of hate should put deeds to the words of much of the media?

In Austria Attacks on refugee accommodation have doubled with homes firebombed, vandals spray Nazi graffiti on walls and a man threaten to “get a gun and shoot the dogs”. In neighbouring Germany, more than 900 attacks on refugee homes were recorded in 2016, with the arrival of more than one million asylum seekers driving a spike in political violence and hate speech.
