"Best Know Your Place"! (poem)

“BEST KNOW YOUR PLACE”!

November 2014. David Mellor was abusive towards a taxi

driver, a judge ruled that Andrew Mitchell did call a police

officer a pleb and Emily Thornberry made a snobbish tweet.

A contest will be organised,

To try and ascertain;

Which M.P. has the biggest mouth,

And who’s the most profane.

The entry forms will stipulate,

That each expletive heard;

Must be of Anglo-Saxon source,

And a four-letter word.

Contained within an order that,

Is utterly perempt;

And to the lower orders shows,

A view of sheer contempt.

Of course most politicians keep,

Their prejudices well-hid;

But now and then events occur,

Which help to lift the lid.

Upon what actually they think,

About the great unwashed;

And how we best should know our place,

Or verbally be squashed.

So voters everywhere take note,

What politicians think;

No need for deep psychology,

To know it’s they that stink!
